Non-surgical injectable shaping agents can help eliminate some facial wrinkles and slow down the development of new ones. BOTOX ® Cosmetic is a Botulinum toxin injection that is administered by a doctor to temporarily smooth frown lines and wrinkles between the eyebrows. They can also be used off-label to smooth out wrinkles in the forehead and address smile lines around the eyes commonly known as “crows feet”. They are the only treatment of this type that are approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

This procedure is best for wrinkles that are forming or have formed from repeated muscle contractions like frowning and smiling . It does not improve wrinkles that are related to sun damage, sagging skin or replace the need for a face or brow lift. Understanding the limitations of botulinum toxin and having reasonable expectations are important in order to be a good candidate.

Dr. Anthony Tran is a board certified plastic surgeon and can safely inject BOTOX® and offer other treatments if necessary.

Your Consultation

During your first visit, Dr. Tran will ask you about your desired results. This will help him understand your expectations and let you know if they can be realistically accomplished. Dr. Tran will analyze your face and also recommend other noninvasives such as fillers or chemicals to achieve your goals. After your consultation, photographs will be taken for your medical record and additional analysis.

Most patients who are healthy are good candidates. You will be asked about any conditions that may complicate the procedure. It is important for you to provide complete information. If you are pregnant or have a neurological medical condition then you should not be treated.

How is Botox® injected?

A very small amount of the agent is precisely injected into several areas on your face using a fine micro-needle. Because the needle and quantity is so small there is minimal pain that is felt. There is usually a minor sting that disappears after a few seconds and no discomfort after the procedure is complete. No anesthesia is required and you can immediately return to normal activities. The procedure takes from 15 to 30 minutes and is performed in the office.

What should I know about my results?

The results of the injections usually take about 2 to 3 days before they are fully apparent and last up to 4 months before they wear off. At that time another injection is required. After several treatments, the affects may last longer, sometimes even up to eight months.

How much does Botox® cost?

Payment is required prior to injection. Cost depends on the number of treatment areas to be injected. You may contact our office to find out the cost.
